Kueng Caputo –; Hallo, Sunshine
AGO : Projects takes over India Mahdavi’s Project Room and presents Hallo, Sunshine, an exhibition by Swiss design-duo Kueng Caputo.
As Paris hosts its 3rd edition of Paris+ by Art Basel, Mexico City based gallery AGO Projects, founded by Rudy Weissenberg and Rodman Primack, returns to India Mahdavi’s Project Room to present new work from the Zurich based designer duo Kueng Caputo. AGO Projects will also be signing their first monograph, Love How You Live : Adventures in Interior Design, published by Phaidon, on the opening day.
Kueng Caputo is comprised of Sarah Kueng and Lovis Caputo, who have been working together since they were industrial design students at HGKZ Zurich many years ago. The practice is rooted in material development and exploration, often times rethinking craft techniques and up-ending traditional applications and understandings. With Hallo, Sunshine the designers are presenting lighting and tables that embody their exploration of the use of industrial brick to build engaging design objects and furniture.
Using the standard terracotta bricks of Switzerland, Swissmodul, K&C have transformed them with smooth highly colored glaze, adding their vision and whimsy. All pieces are unique and are created by the designers at their studio, through a slow and intensive process. Color, texture, form and light combine in exuberant yet useful collectible objects.
