El Zaguán
In their practice, clays collected from different regions of Mexico become the starting point for creating their own clay bodies and reestablishing a shared connection with the material. Their glazes emerge from an ongoing investigation into plant ashes—including bougainvillea, myrtle, agave bagasse, flamboyant, and pomegranate.
Through fire, the minerals contained in these ashes are transformed and returned to the pieces as surfaces with their own colors and textures. In this way, the material preserves something of what it once was and of the place from which it originated.
