Andrés Lhima
Andrés Lhima is a Mexican designer known for his figurative, playful, and functional style.
His products have been sold and exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) Design Store in New York and Tokyo, at the Maison & Objet and More fair in Paris, and in museum stores across Mexico, including the National Museum of Anthropology, the Museum of Contemporary Art of Monterrey (MARCO), the University Museum of Contemporary Art (MUAC), the Franz Mayer Museum of Arts and Design, the Tamayo Museum of Contemporary Art, and the iconic houses of Frida Kahlo and Luis Barragán in Mexico City.
Beyond Mexico and the United States, his work has been exhibited in France, Italy, Austria, and China. One of his earliest designs, the Fidencio Sillón, was selected to be part of the prestigious design collection at the Vitra Design Museum in Germany, making him the only Mexican designer with this distinction. More recently, his work was also included in the design collections of the Denver Art Museum in the United States and the University Museum of Contemporary Art (MUAC) in Mexico City.
He was selected to showcase his work at Salone Satellite as part of the 60th anniversary of Salone del Mobile in Milan, Italy, where he presented the Mamá Canguro sugar bowl. During the same event, he was included in the Satellite Awards competition with his iconic Fidencio Sillón, which—along with his Pingüinos vases—is also part of the Salone Satellite collection.
Currently, he serves as the Director of the Industrial Design and Product Development program at CEDIM.
